“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV
We can let go of whatever earthly treasures we may have been holding onto.
Whatever God gives us during this lifetime does not come with us to heaven.
We can thank God for the season of life that we had to enjoy those gifts, and when our season changes, we can let what we once loved go.
Our love for that time period doesn’t disappear. It transforms.
We can thank Him no matter what is going on, past or present.
We can find peace and simplicity in letting go.
We don’t need to carry the weight of the past into the future.
We can simply pause and whisper, “Thank you, Lord.”
We can say “goodbye” to the past memories.
A tree during the fall season lets go of its leaves. It doesn’t hold onto them forever. The transitioning colors still dazzle.
Amen.
