Luke 1:36 NKJV
[36] Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
John the Baptist’s mother, Elizabeth, had him in her old age.
Instead of bemoaning the difficulties of pregnancy and later caring for a young child in her old age, she rejoiced, because her pregnancy was nothing short of a miracle, because she was previously barren.
Sometimes we need to adjust our mindset in order to see the blessings God has given us.
We could spend all day thinking about how hard it is to get through the holidays, but we must not forget the reason for the season: Jesus.
Because of Him, forgiveness is possible. Because of Him, salvation is possible. Because of Him, mercy is possible.
We could go through the holiday season feeling like the Grinch, which my seven-year-old son brought home a drawing of, or we could choose to find peace and gratitude in the moments of silence that we can find in the midst of the noise of Christmas.
Amen.
