Leviticus 26:3-4 NIV
[3] “ ‘If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, [4] I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit.

It takes a lot of good, unpoluted rain water before a fruit tree can produce fruit, unassisted.

A fruit tree can still produce fruit even if it hasn’t been pruned in years if it has enough sun, water, and nutrient-rich soil.

God tends to wild fruit trees, even after humans have neglected them.

What we feed grows.

If we feed our rage, we stay angry well beyond the initial incident.

Instead, when we experience anger, we can follow the acronym, R.A.I.N., as my best friend advised.

“R” is for recognize. Recognize the emotion.

“A” is for allow. Accept that the emotion is present.

“I” is for investigate. Identify the emotion. Get curious about it.

“N” is for non attachment. Disassociate from anxiety.

God gave us emotions to teach us something. We can exercise self compassion as we experience strong emotions.

Like a well-watered tree, we can grow with the proper environment.

Amen.
